KUALA LUMPUR: Private equity firm Censuria Capital, led by chairman Datuk Marco Yap, has acquired a strategic stake in Perak Transit Bhd, following its earlier investment in NCT Alliance Bhd.
In a statement, Censuria said the move reflects its continued focus on sectors with long-term infrastructure and socio-economic value.
Yap said that despite recent market-driven volatility in Perak Transit’s share price, the company’s solid fundamentals and resilient operations underpin Censuria’s confidence in the investment.
He added that Perak Transit’s close collaboration with the Perak state government positions it to both benefit from and contribute to the state’s public transport and infrastructure development.
Censuria is currently engaging with the company on capital market initiatives, including a share buyback program, to enhance shareholder value and reinforce investor confidence.
Meanwhile, Perak Transit executive director Datuk Cheong Peak Sooi welcomed Censuria as a strategic shareholder, saying the partnership will enhance regional investment interest, strengthen its capital market profile, and support growth in public mobility and infrastructure.
He added that the group’s 15-year agreement to manage the Perlis bus terminal demonstrates its scalable, asset-light model.
Both parties believe the partnership will unlock new growth opportunities, support nationwide expansion, and advance Malaysia’s public transport and infrastructure ecosystem.
