PETALING JAYA: Sunway Bhd has appointed former Malayan Banking Bhd (Maybank) president and chief executive officer (CEO) Tan Sri Abdul Wahid Omar as an independent and non-executive director.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Sunway noted that Abdul Wahid (62) is currently the independent non-executive chairman of Cypark Resources Bhd and IOI Corp Bhd.

“He recently completed his five-year tenure as chairman of Bursa Malaysia Bhd on April 30, 2025.

“Prior to this, he served as group chairman of Permodalan Nasional Bhd from August 2016 to June 2018.

Prior to his Cabinet appointment, Abdul Wahid served as the president and CEO of Maybank from May 2008.
